Privacy Policy: Counseling and Psychological Services
To describe the nature and limits of confidentiality.
All eligible KU students who receive services at CAPS.
CAPS is required by law to create and maintain medical records. All contacts withCAPS Clinical Service are confidential. No client information is released to anyone outside the department including Watkins Health Center, other university offices, faculty, or parents without the client’s written consent. There are limits to confidentiality. CAPS professionals are required by law to report cases of suspected child abuse. They may disclose information when it is necessary to protect a client or others from imminent danger. Information may be disclosed when required by court order. CAPS professionals also reserve the right to share information with each other for consultation and training purposes.
